SEO Blogging

If you are going to use a blog in your search engine marketing campaign, you need to make sure it will draw people to it. Blogs are powerful marketing tools when used correctly, and you can get a lot out of a dynamic page. If you want a blog that will be powerful and keep the readers coming back for more, be sure to implement the five tips for starting a blog.

Tip 1: Get to the Point

Lots of people that visit blogs only have a few minutes to spend surfing the internet. If they have to read a book to get to the main point, they will drop off and find someone that can say the same thing in a more concise manner. You have to find a way to get the point across as quickly as possible so your search engine marketing campaign will take off.

Tip 2: Update Often

You need to commit yourself to posting on your blog every day. When a blog does not get updated often, people lost interest. Find something relevant to say and then update often. Since you don’t need long posts, it is not difficult to do daily updates.

Tip 3: Use Pictures and Videos

Take a look at the blogs that really do well. They use pictures, videos and text. Don’t be afraid to do the same. YouTube is a great place to get videos to use on your blog, and you can really go far with a great video or picture. This will make your page more visually appealing, and it will also make it more exciting. The internet is supposed to be a fun place, and you want your blog to be fun and interesting as well.

Tip 4: Cite Your Sources

Remember, the same copyright rules apply online as offline. If you use a source, cite it. You want to give credit where credit is due. No one likes a blog thief, and your search engine marketing campaign will go up in smoke if someone finds out you are borrowing information without citing your sources.

Tip 5: Proofread

This should go without saying, but sadly, it does not. Make sure you proofread your blogs. Errors will turn readers away. Look as professional as possible.

Your search engine marketing campaign can take off with a well run blog. Incorporate these tips into your blog and you can do very well. cultivate your blog and watch as your readership grows.

Thx for the tips! Its not so hard to follow them. I’m trying to get used to “get to the point” in my posts… I have a bad habit of trying to write more than I need.

Excellent point on citing sources! You can find a bunch of articles on the Internet that offer up tips for writing, writing for the web, building a successful bog, etc. etc. But, I’ve yet to read an article that stresses citing sources and I think it is one of the most important points to remember. It is so easy to copy and paste these days to beef up content but it is plagiarism. Citing the source, especially with a link back to the original comment, can create relationships and networks and avoid the plagiarism problem.

Thanks for the post. I think one of the most important things about writing a blog is the subject matter, it needs to be interesting! Using video, images and demos like you suggest can really help bring your blog to life. Starting discussions can also create lively debates that get people involved. Keeping your blog concise, using informative heading and a summary intro paragraph will also give readers a quick overview of your blog, allowing them to digest the content more easily.
